FLE/ESL TEACHER SEMINARS

These seminars permit English ESL and French FLE teachers to perfect their pedagogical skills and to meet a different approach of methodology and didactics in the teaching of FLE/ESL (french as a second language /English as a second language).
It will also assist teachers in becoming more competent, improving their teaching skills and classroom dynamics and learning how to use the audiovisual method while putting emphasis on natural, conversational language.

Our objectives

The goal of our English (ESL)/ French (FLE) teacher seminar is to help teachers adapt to different teaching contexts of a foreign language, to capitalize their assets and make them evolve in :

  • enlarging the teaching supply methods in the language
  • discovering new tools and pedagogical props
  • reactualising their knowledge in the culture of the targeted language
  • consolidating their knowledge in the french/english language
  • optimizing effectiveness in their oral and written steps

These pedagogical seminars will equally permit to :

  • Gather and get more profound know-hows in teaching/learning french/english as a foreign or second language,
  • Develop animation skills and pedagogical practice surrounding expression and communcation,
  • Help students’ development in creativity and intellectual aptitudes,
  • Question various phenomenons, such as motivation, learning styles, etc.
  • Compare experiences and meet other colleagues.
   

FLE/ESL TEACHER SEMINAR

In this summer teacher seminar, ALC welcomes french/english as a foreign language or second language teachers and provides intensive support to new teachers and vetran teachers alike.

Duration of seminar

One week minimum (possibility to take 2 weeks).
All year round programs developed to your needs, upon request.

Teacher seminar

  • Program of 15h per week
  • Program of 21h per week: 15h of program and 6h of workshop
  • Program of 27h per week : Two cultural afternoons per week (visits, discovering programs, etc.)

Foreign and native trainers, teaching french/english as a foreign or second language in a country of the targeted language or a foreign one.

PROGRAM A : LEARNING AND TEACHING STRATEGIES

Objectives :

  • To question the phenomenons related to the acquisition of a skill needed to communicate in a foreign language
  • Increase learners’ pleasure and motivation
  • Increase learners’ autonomy and develop their capacities to learn a foreign language : meet students’ carachteristical strategies and then adapt teaching strategies

Learning strategies

  • Technical, mechanical, behavioral strategies…
  • The teaching of learning strategies and the training of their use
  • Integrate the strategies in a french/english as a foreign language class

Our Linguistic Camp is an exceptional program that provides a fun-filled experience in English-ESL and Frenh FLE. Our goal is the combination of fun activities and the learning in the classroom, to make the students discover and encourage them to learn the foreign language.

It is the perfect idea for the adventurous and active teenager. For the teen it will be an inimitable practical experience of learning
in a cheerful ambiance.

This summer, the program is divided into 4 themes that last about 2 weeks each.

In the morning the students will take part in courses based on the learning and development of vocabulary, as well as sentence structure. This learning method will be intorduced in an interactive and communicative way that will also be supported by audiovisual materials.

The dynamic of the course is based on two essential elements : the lessons are presented in a television series which will motivate students’ interest more ; characters and contexts with different lives that will urge students to identify themselves and progress with motivation in the targeted language. What they learned in the morning will be put into practice in the afternoon through theme-related workshops.

The objective of these workshops is to make students more independent in reinforcing their confidence in their spoken skills. This production will also put the writing and oral part in value by stimulating their personal tastes. Since they have the possibility to choose the project of their liking, they will have a feeling of satisfaction because they are doing something for themselves and not the teacher. Certified and dynamic teachers will surround your teens by giving them the desire to talk in a new language without any translation from their mother tongue to the learning language.You will be surprised by the entertainment and facilities that your teen will be provided with for communication in the targeted language through everyday activities!!!

This program is offered in small groups. You can apply for
2, 4 or 8 weeks.
